About the Role
As a Casual Glasshouse Worker, you’ll be part of the production team responsible for maintaining and harvesting tomato crops within T&G’s high-tech glasshouses in Tuakau. This physically active role involves various crop care tasks such as picking, pruning, twisting, clipping, and de-leafing tomato plants.
You’ll be on your feet for most of your shift, working in warm-to-hot environments and occasionally on trolleys or ladders. No prior experience in horticulture is required—T&G Global provides full onsite training to help you succeed. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable industry experience while contributing to one of New Zealand’s most respected fresh produce brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Picking ripe tomatoes with care and attention to quality.
- Pruning, de-leafing, and clipping tomato plants to promote healthy growth.
- Twisting vines and maintaining plant structure throughout the growing season.
- Assisting in crop maintenance and general glasshouse operations.
- Monitoring plant health and reporting issues to supervisors.
- Following hygiene, health, and safety protocols within the glasshouse.
- Working efficiently to meet daily production targets.
- Supporting fellow team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Operating trolleys and light equipment safely as needed.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace at all times.
Requirements
- No previous horticulture experience required — full training provided.
- Physically fit and able to work on your feet for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in warm or hot conditions.
- Capable of lifting up to 25kg safely.
- Ability to work at heights on trolleys from time to time.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Reliable and punctual with strong teamwork skills.
- Proof of eligibility to work in New Zealand (no visa sponsorship available).
- Must pass a drug test and security check prior to employment.
