Thornton Engineering Australia is seeking a Welder Job in Australia to join its experienced team of boilermakers and welders at the Corio workshop. This role is ideal for skilled welders with strong experience in GMAW (MIG) and exposure to other welding processes such as GTAW (TIG), Flux-core, or SMAW (Stick). Job Responsibilities

As a Welder at Thornton Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing high-quality welding using GMAW (MIG) processes
  • Using other welding techniques such as GTAW (TIG), Flux-core, and SMAW (Stick) when required
  • Reading and interpreting Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Selecting appropriate consumables and welding variables
  • Operating welding machines, power tools, hand tools, and measuring equipment
  • Producing fabricated parts to required specifications and quality standards
  • Maintaining equipment and ensuring safe working practices
  • Working closely with supervisors and team members
  • Contributing to workshop productivity and quality outcomes

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welder) or equivalent
  • Adequate welding skills to pass a welder qualification test
  • Considerable experience in GMAW (MIG) welding
  • Ability to read and interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS)
  • Experience operating fabrication and welding equipment
  • A current and valid driver’s licence
  • Legal entitlement to work in Australia
