Key Responsibilities
- Ensure cows are milke properly and thoroughly
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by barn staff and the Student-Managed Farm (SMF)
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of milking equipment
- Clean the milk house and parlour area before, during, and after milking
- Observe milk quality and monitor animal health during milking
- Report any abnormalities or health concerns to full-time barn staff immediately
- Communicate daily with barn staff, SMF, and the farm team
- Support optimal herd health and milk quality
- Help ensure smooth and efficient operation of dairy facilities
Job Requirements
- Dairy experience is considere an asset
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Availability to work on a rotating schedule during the school year
- Awareness of farm safety practices
- Ability to identify hazards in a farm environment
