Full Job Description of Daycare Helper
- Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
- Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
- Supervise children to ensure they are safe and interacting appropriately
- Monitor children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues
- Report concerns to parents and staff
- Maintain a safe and clean environment
- Help children discover new interests through art, music, sports, and other activities
- Encourage children to learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, and sharing
- Help children learn positive behaviors
- Prepare children for school or the next level of care
