Human Resources Assistant Job In Canada

KSpecific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist the Human Resources team with the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of a unionized workplace
  • Organizes and participates in the recruitment process (interviews, references, criminal record checks)
  • Coordinates on-boarding, orientations and training for new hires.
  • Coordinates employee recognition, retirement and service awards.
  • Coordinates professional development training for employees
  • Assists with the implementation and/or maintenance of a variety of projects related to the automation of human resource functions such as EDAS, SDS, and Attendance Management initiatives, and recruitments;
  • Provides support to employee wellness;
  • Assists with the administration of employment contracts for support staff, facilities staff, and other staff as directed;
  • Coordinates and support investigations as required;
  • Coordinates and supports the Job Evaluation processes;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to plan and follow-up on projects;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Holds a CPHR designation or working towards designation.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills and professionalism.
  • Ability to be thorough, accurate and exercise high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Applications (Office 365, Word, Excel) at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Abilityto exercise discretion, confidentiality and sound judgement.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to deal with people in a courteous, calm and effective manner.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, and effectively resolve them.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work exercising strong organizational and time management skills.
