Gill Farms Mildura is offering an excellent full-time opportunity for an experienced and motivated Farm Manager Job in Australia to oversee daily farm and orchard operations. This role is perfect for someone with strong horticultural knowledge, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to high farming standards. The selected candidate will play a key role in managing Citrus, Wine Grapes, Avocados, and other horticultural programs, while ensuring productivity, safety, and efficiency across all farm activities.

Gill Farms Mildura is a family-owned and operated horticulture business located in the Iraak Nangiloc region, about 30 km south of Mildura. The farm spans approximately 385 hectares, producing Citrus, Wine Grapes, and Avocados. Responsibilities

The Farm Manager will handle a wide range of operational, supervisory, and technical tasks, including:

  • Overseeing daily orchard operations and production activities.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring production strategies and plans.
  • Managing horticultural programs to ensure healthy tree growth and strong crop performance.
  • Evaluating orchard conditions and ensuring optimal irrigation and fertilizer supply.
  • Planning production activities related to output, cost, labor, and timelines.
  • Controlling production plant operations, maintenance schedules, and equipment availability.
  • Supervising the purchase and installation of new equipment.
  • Leading research and recommending improvements in farming methods.
  • Monitoring production output and expenses, and adjusting processes to reduce costs.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Supervising staff, monitoring performance, and maintaining proper staffing levels.
  • Identifying training needs and arranging staff development programs.
  • Communicating production matters to other managers.
  • Preparing and controlling production records and reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar farm management role.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture practices in Citrus, Almonds, Wine Grapes, and Avocados.
  • Proven experience managing farm operations and staff.
  • Deep understanding of orchard systems and crop management.
  • Familiarity with irrigation systems (highly desirable).
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, plan effectively, and manage daily tasks.
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and safe workplace practices.
  • Experience in farm development (desirable).
