Responsibilities
As a Pipelines Welder at Wellington Water, you will:
- Fabricate, fit, and maintain large-diameter steel pipes on the bulk water network.
- Maintain and upgrade water infrastructure following technical standards and drawings.
- Undertake inspections, repairs, and collaborate with internal teams and external contractors.
- Keep accurate records to meet compliance and quality standards.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent after-hours repairs.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Trade certificate in fitting and welding with at least 5 years’ experience in large steel pipe fabrication and repair.
- Full and clean NZ Class 1 driver’s licence.
- Competence in welding to ASME 9 standards (or actively working towards certification).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with precision.
- Commitment to health and safety, including confined space work.
- Knowledge of risk control planning and the ability to operate small plant equipment such as generators and compressors.
