Wellington Water is seeking a skilled Pipelines Welder Serviceperson Job in New Zealand to join its Network Operations Team at the Pomare Depot in Lower Hutt. Responsibilities

As a Pipelines Welder at Wellington Water, you will:

  • Fabricate, fit, and maintain large-diameter steel pipes on the bulk water network.
  • Maintain and upgrade water infrastructure following technical standards and drawings.
  • Undertake inspections, repairs, and collaborate with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Keep accurate records to meet compliance and quality standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent after-hours repairs.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Trade certificate in fitting and welding with at least 5 years’ experience in large steel pipe fabrication and repair.
  • Full and clean NZ Class 1 driver’s licence.
  • Competence in welding to ASME 9 standards (or actively working towards certification).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with precision.
  • Commitment to health and safety, including confined space work.
  • Knowledge of risk control planning and the ability to operate small plant equipment such as generators and compressors.
