Job Summary – Paragraph 1

This Research Officer position focuses on large-scale production of cultivated chicken using fibroblastic cell lines. The role requires a high level of technical skill in mammalian cell culture, aseptic techniques, and preparation of media and solutions. You will be expected to carry out production work according to Singapore Food Agency (SFA) guidelines, ensuring strong consistency, hygiene, and compliance. Accuracy, scientific understanding, and problem-solving skills are essential as you will analyze metabolites, track experimental results, and maintain detailed records. The position is based at the Ayer Rajah facility and falls under the guidance of the Bioprocess Scientist for Cellular Agriculture.

In this role, you will support multiple areas of scientific research and operational development. You will work closely with internal teams, vendors, external laboratories, and clients. Key Responsibilities (10+)

  • Perform mammalian cell culture with focus on chicken embryo cells.
  • Prepare culture media and laboratory solutions for small and large-scale processes.
  • Conduct bioanalysis of cell metabolites and medium components.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to cell lines and culture processes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all laboratory work.
  • Communicate progress and updates to clients and internal teams.
  • Coordinate with vendors and external testing laboratories.
  • Assist in technical support for marketing content and quotation development.
  • Participate in developing protocols and technical reports.
  • Undertake tasks assigned by the Team Leader as needed.
  • Support continuous batch production with consistent quality.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Applicants must have at least 1–2 years of laboratory experience with aseptic and mammalian cell culture. A background in Microbiology, Cell Biology, or a related field is required. Strong pipetting skills, general laboratory knowledge, and experience with automation are necessary. Candidates must have good communication skills, organizational skills, and proficiency in Excel. The job requires teamwork, motivation, adaptability, and the ability to follow detailed instructions in a controlled environment.
