Responsibilities
Depending on your assigned area, you’ll be involved in:
Crop Work
- Caring for tomato plants through leafing, pollinating, twisting, and lowering.
- Working in glasshouses with temperatures up to 30°C and high humidity.
- Standing or walking for 8-hour shifts with scheduled breaks.
- Performing repetitive movements safely and efficiently.
- Occasionally working at heights for plant maintenance.
Picking
- Harvesting ripe tomatoes with care and precision.
- Working in warm, humid glasshouse conditions.
- Standing or walking for 9.5-hour shifts.
- Maintaining accuracy and speed in picking.
- Following quality standards to ensure freshness and consistency.
Packing
- Packing tomatoes in an indoor facility cooled to around 12°C.
- Sorting and grading tomatoes based on quality.
- Standing for 9.5-hour shifts and maintaining workflow efficiency.
- Ensuring hygiene and food safety compliance during packing operations.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, applicants must:
- Have reliable transport to and from the work site.
- Be physically fit and capable of long periods of standing or walking.
- Be able to work in warm, humid, or cooled environments depending on the department.
- Have a basic understanding of English (spoken and written).
- Be committed to occupational health and safety, food quality, and hygiene.
- Have valid working rights for Australia.
- Reside locally or arrange accommodation independently, as Costa does not provide housing or transport.
