D & S Freighters Limited is a well-established logistics provider, specialising in reliable and efficient transportation services. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Truck Driver to join our team.
The main work is in the Timaru, Canterbury region, with transport runs to nearby regions. You will be responsible for the following duties:
- Safely operate and drive trucks to transport goods while strictly following all applicable traffic regulations, including size, weight limits, designated routes, parking, and break requirements, in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with or manage the secure and proper loading of goods, ensuring all items are in good condition.
- Adhere to safety protocols and always maintain a commitment to safe practices.
- Accurately document transported goods, verify invoices, and plan the most efficient and timely delivery routes.
- Perform pickups and deliveries, keeping detailed records of work hours, rest periods, distances travelled, and maintaining receipts for fuel and tolls.
- Implement resource-saving measures, such as fuel conservation strategies, to optimize operational efficiency.
- Act as a professional company representative, fostering positive interactions with clients and the public.
- Immediately report any mechanical issues, equipment malfunctions, accidents, or vehicle-related problems to supervisors.
- Maintain the vehicle’s cleanliness and functionality, including regular cleaning of windows, mirrors, and windshields, while keeping the interior organized and free of debris.
The candidate will be required to work at least 30 hours per week and be paid between $25 to $30 per hour.
Other important requirements:
- Minimum 6 months of relevant driving experience
- Available to Work on weekends, night and rostered shifts
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license with DG and F endorsement
- Must pass drug and alcohol tests.
