Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality welding and fabrication work to company standards
- Interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS) to select appropriate consumables and variables
- Carry out GMAW (MIG) welding as a primary process
- Perform GTAW (TIG), Flux-core, and SMAW (Stick) welding when required
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and technical specifications
- Operate and maintain welding machines, measuring tools, power tools, and hand tools
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and compliance
- Work closely with boilermakers, welders, and workshop supervisors
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
Requirements
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welder) or equivalent
- Ability to pass a welder qualification test
- Considerable experience in GMAW (MIG) welding
- Ability to read and interpret WPS (welding procedure specifications)
- Experience in a fabrication or workshop environment
- Current and valid driver’s licence
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
Skills
- Advanced welding and fabrication skills
- TIG, Flux-core, and Stick welding experience (advantageous)
- Experience working with stainless steel (advantageous)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to operate fabrication and measuring equipment
- Problem-solving and practical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Forklift, dogman (DG), or high-risk work licences (advantageous)
