About the Job

The Team Member – Meat Processing (Evening Shift) role is based at Silver Fern Farms’ Pacific Site in Whakatu, Hastings. As part of a close-knit production team, you’ll work in a fast-paced environment ensuring the highest standards of meat processing, hygiene, and safety.

This is a full-time role, typically 40 hours per week during the peak season, with overtime opportunities available. The evening shift runs approximately from 3:30 PM to 12:30 AM, and all protective clothing and gear are provided by the company.

Key Responsibilities

As a Meat Processing Team Member, you will:

  • Assist in processing meat products to high quality and food safety standards.
  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with your team to meet production targets.
  • Follow hygiene, technical, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Uphold health and safety practices at all times.
  • Participate in training sessions to improve your skills and performance.
  • Handle products carefully to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Support other departments as needed during busy production periods.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including ethical and environmental standards.

Requirements

You don’t need prior experience to apply — full training will be provided. However, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Be 18 years or older (due to audit and compliance standards).
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand.
  • Be physically fit and able to handle repetitive tasks.
  • Have a reliable work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Be able to pass pre-employment medical, fitness, and criminal checks.
  • Be available for the evening shift (3:30 PM – 12:30 AM).
  • Be ready to follow strict health, safety, and quality protocols.

Advantageous experience (not required but beneficial):

  • Knife handling or trimming skills.
  • Experience in meat or food processing environments.
  • A current forklift license.
