Key Responsibilities

The Welder will be responsible for joining, fabricating, and repairing metal components while maintaining quality and safety requirements. Main duties include:

  • Reading and interpreting welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
  • Operating manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated welding equipment.
  • Operating oxygen arc cutting equipment.
  • Using previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • Following quality control procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Following workplace health and safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

Welder Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years of welding experience. Experience with MIG welding for three years is preferred. Candidates should also have a secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent and a current welding certification.

English language ability is required to safely understand work instructions, drawings, and safety procedures. A CWB certification is preferred.

Required Welding Skills

The position requires knowledge of several welding techniques, including:

  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Multi-pass welding

Important personal competencies include attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, spatial awareness, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, time management, and reliability.

Working Conditions

The job is performed in a shop environment where employees may encounter noise, sparks, grinding debris, and moving equipment. The position requires regular lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Required personal protective equipment must be worn at all times.
