Job Summary
As a Welder/Fitter at Canadian Maritime Engineering, you will play a vital role in the fabrication, fitting, and assembly of metal structures and components. This position requires a strong understanding of welding procedures, blueprint interpretation, and precision workmanship.
The role involves working with various metals including aluminum, stainless steel, and structural steel. Welders will perform high-quality welding tasks using different methods such as FCAW, SMAW, and GTAW, depending on project needs. Some travel may be required, and flexibility in work hours is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fitting tasks on structural and plate materials as per engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and drawings accurately.
- Operate welding machines using different methods (FCAW, SMAW, GTAW).
- Conduct precise fitting and burning work for marine and industrial components.
- Ensure all work meets quality control standards and welding certification requirements.
- Maintain safe and clean working conditions in compliance with company safety policies.
- Troubleshoot and correct welding issues or defects.
- Collaborate effectively with the fabrication team to meet project timelines.
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and professionalism at all times.
- Adapt to shift work and occasional travel as required by project needs.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Secondary education or equivalent technical training.
- Certification: Must be capable of passing welder certification tests.
- Experience:
- Proven experience in FCAW/SMAW/GTAW welding.
- Experience in marine fabrication is an asset.
